Favorite TV Shows (a huge huge list)

Something a bit different from my normal fashion/beauty! I apologize beforehand that this is so long and all these shows and more can be found on primewire.ag !!!

For creepy/horror/thrill:
American Horror Story which is currently on break with its 3rd season (Coven) premiering on FX on Oct. 9 I absolutely LOVED the first season and it is actually pretty creepy but it has a really good mix with a good storyline/plot. The second season I think was much gorier and more of your traditional "scary" scenes but it lacked a good stable story line but is still worth watching. What is interesting about this show is that the storyline is different every season, which is not how other TV shows are. The characters are completely different (though many actors the same) and the plot is completely new each time. I am so excited to watch the third season I cannot wait!

Bates Motel is a loose "prequel" of the famous Pyscho movie which shows on AETV. It is also currently on break and is expected to come out with a season 2 in 2014 not sure of the firm date though. This is definitely not a scary show as the movie was but is more of a thriller with some slightly creepy undertones. It is really interesting to be able to see where the beginnings of certain tendencies came from that will develop into the movie Norman Bates that was in the Pyscho movie. It is set in Norman's teen years and gets more and more intense and detail oriented as the season plays out. The first episode is definitely an attention grabber with a (spoiler alert) rape and murder but the rest of the season definitely did not disappoint!
I will admit Dexter is hardly a scary TV show but because of the blood I'll put it under here anyways. The main character, Dexter, is a blood splatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide and he works along with his detective sister to catch murderers. The irony is that he himself is a murderer who, as a child, was taught, by his policeman father, to only kill those who deserve it (aka murderers). It has a good amount of action and blood so you wont get bored but enough of a solid and convincing storyline that has followed it through for 7 seasons. I promise this show is amazing and while you may get tired at sometimes if you come back to it I promise you wont be disappointed. I stopped after season 4 because I got bored of it but then I recently came back and became hooked.

For Sci-Fi/Fantasy:
Orphan Black is a seriously underrated TV show! It is about a girl who witnesses a suicide by a girl who looks exactly like her and she finds out that there are many others that look exactly like her because she is a clone. The others all live separate completely different lives and she also learns that they are all being hunted down and killed but the reason why and by whom is not completely clear yet. It isn't an American TV show and actually airs on BBC but if you go to primewire.ag (BEST TV/MOVIE STREAMING SITE EVER) you can find all the episodes. Seriously give this show a chance it is so good yet I haven't heard a lot of hype over it?
If you seriously haven't heard of or tried Game of Thrones yet then there is seriously something wrong with you. There is ample (and I mean very very ample) amounts of sex, slight gore, dragons, tears, and action. Yet it is all tightly wrapped up in an incredibly complex, but not confusing, storyline which branches out as different members in different lands/households compete for the "Iron Throne". You don't have to be a total geek who loves fantasy to love this show because seriously it caters to all types of TV fanatics. It is about to air its 4th highly anticipated season on HBO.
For funny/humor:
New Girl is one of my new favorite shows. I am so so so glad that it is on Netflix even if it's only the first season (season 2 will air sometime in September though!) It is about a quirky teacher (Jess) who movies in with three guy roommates, who are all hilarious in their own ways. There is some serious romantic build up between Jess and one of her roommates (not going to spoil!). If you love quirky comedies then this will be perfect for you. AND A LOT OF MY GUY FRIENDS LOVE IT so it isn't only for the ladies!

Orange is the New Black is another new TV show that I have tried and it is a Netflix original. Not going to lie I did not think it would be that good because the last Netflix original I tried (Hemlock Grove) left a lot to be wished for. But this one is a perfect balance between a comedy and drama. The main character, Piper, is a (former) lesbian who ends up in jail for being an accomplice to drug smuggling back years ago. Now she has left her fiance while she experiences life in prison. The show touches on a lot of racial, mental, and sexual issues yet does it in such a light hearted and funny way that there is no way you could get offended. There is a lot of nudity which I was not expecting but it is seriously a show that shocked me with how good it is!

Arrested Development is a good show sometimes and not so good other times. Sometimes it has been rolling around dying while other times it is a bit monotonous but I will put it down because it is a good show and I'm on season 3 so obviously they're doing something right. All seasons are on netflix!

Wilfred is one of those shows that either you love or you hate. If you're into witty slightly crude in a very dry humor kind of way, this is the show for you. It is about an ex lawyer (Ryan) who has a crush on his neighbor and is best friends with her dog Wilfred. Literally best friends. Wilfred, to him, is a talking, breathing, pot smoking, dog while to everyone else he is just a dog. There is definitely some dark undertones as the viewers aren't sure whether Ryan is crazy or has some mental illness that is yet to be revealed. It just finished its 3rd season and it is showing on FX.
Workaholics is another one of those either you like it or you hate it kind of shows. If you hate shows about immaturity, drinking, adults shirking responsibilities then this is not the show for you. But if you don't mind any of those things then this is the show for you. Impossibly funny and great for the younger adult crowd because of some references to rap songs (bitch better have my money) and rappers (thank you based god). But even if you don't pick up on all the references the show is still incredibly funny in of itself. Mini plot is that it is about 3 grown men/roommates working together at a telemarketing company and it is funny as hell. It is currently about to air its 4th season (I think only season one is on Netflix) and I cannot wait.
Parks and Recreation is an actual god send. I could never get very into the office yet this show I could get into right from the get go. It is by the creators of The Office so if you loved that show then chances are you'll love this one. And if you thought that The Office was a bit too slow for you, you might want to give this show a try because (in my opinion) this show is a more fast paced version of The Office. It is about Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) who works in the parks & rec department in a small town with her coworkers. You just have to watch it because it is the best like ALL the characters are hilarious
A few that I know every one has probably heard of but maybe just need some more of a push to watch Walking Dead (AMC) Breaking Bad (AMC) I figured I might as well mention them because they are such good shows.

Dramas:
Another non american TV show airing on BBC, Sherlock. Each episode is like a mini movie (explains why it takes forever for new seasons to come out). That being said I do not recommend starting this show when you have little time. But when you do start I hate to tell you i told you so when you become obsessed. This show is so well acted and written that is is just ugh amazing. It is about a detective, naturally, Sherlock and his sidekick (with whom there seems to be sexual tension) named John Watson. I have never met anyone who has watched this show and hated it soooo

Oldie but goodies:
Lost is that show with seemingly never ending seasons but none of them ever get bad (it really is a phenomenom). First airing in 2004 and ending in 2010 on ABC, this show is about a group of strangers who land on an island after their airplane crashes only to find that the island is really not what it seems. They must fight against "others", a "monster", and even travel through time. While this may sound very campy and over the top cheesy it isn't I PROMISE. It has a great storyline that while may get complex tightens all loose ends. The show has a perfect balance between drama, action, and heartbreak (oh the heartbreak). AND all seasons are on Netflix so go on a binge like I did and watch all 6 season in a matter of 2 months (or less).
Freaks and Geeks ahh, who can say no to teenage James Franco?! While this star studded show was only alive for one season in 1999-2000 that one season is so sweetly innocent that you cant help but love it. I swear it is a bit cheesy but in that PERFECT kind of way. I have actually never met anyone who has watched it and hated it, even guys. Every one who has watched it practically cries because there is no and will never be a season 2. Plus it is on netflix!

Sex and the City I HAD TO PUT THIS ON HERE. I remember watching this religiously all throughout middle school/beginning of high school (I know probably too young but whatever). I swear this is not just a porno made into a tv show there is a really really good plot to all the seasons and the friendship between the four main characters is just enough to make me want to watch all the season all over again. Short plot: four 30something year old single women trying to figure out marriage, sex, friendship, sexuality, every thing. This show will make you laugh, cry, and will teach you a few things about life and sex (naturally).
I will also mention One Tree Hill, Full House, Friends, Bones, House, and Degrassi (with the original cast).

  1. I miss Sex And The City! And I've been meaning to get into American Horror Story. For all your horror picks, you failed to mention Supernatural! Couldn't get into it? I guess it's not horror, per se. But I'm addicted to it. :)
Also an oldie but goodie to me is Desperate Housewives. That kind of cured my craving for Carrie!
